Erstmals hat in diesem Zusammenhang jedoch ein russischer Offizieller die Möglichkeit einer militärischen Auseinandersetzung in Europa als Möglichkeit genannt.
Die Financial Times berichtet:

„Ein Vertrauter von Putin sagte, dass das Yukos-Urteil im Lichte der geopolitischen Auseinandersetzung um die Ukraine unerheblich sei: „Es wird einen Krieg in Europa geben. Glauben Sie wirklich, dass das dann noch eine Rolle spielt?“

Es ist bemerkenswert, dass die FT dieses Zitat in direkter Rede bringt. Denn daraus lässt sich schließen, dass auch Putin sich darauf einstellt, dass eine Verständigung zwischen Russland und dem Westen nicht mehr möglich ist.
