(WCIV) -- Had his car not broken down Tuesday, William Cecil says it's likely he and his young daughter would have been in his camper near the Cooper River when the afterburner from an F-16 fell from the sky and came to rest against it. The debris left a hole in the ground, destroyed the awning over the camper, and sent metal bars into the camper right where Cecil's family sleeps most nights. "Me and my daughter sleep right here. My daughter’s spoiled so she sleeps with me," Cecil said at the campsite off McCrae Road on Wednesday. "It’s completely busted in through the wall and it's actually got the wall dented in towards my bed to where the boards that I’ve nailed into the wall, which are very sturdily in there have actually popped out of the wall from the force of it hitting into the wall," he said. "And its bent the metal in like a crushed soda can."
Cecil said he thought he was having bad luck on Tuesday when he was having car trouble. But then he found out about the collision that killed two men.
"I’m glad we weren't here, but we should have been here. It’s a good thing but it’s still a scary thing, too," he said.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the First Baptist Church (112 East Main Street in Moncks Corner). The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the hour of service.
